DESCRIPTION:Robert Taunt: "The Journal of Marquette & Joliet 1673\," Robert Taunt is a local historian from La Crosse.  He has studied\, written about\, and presented many programs on the history of the Mississippi River and the early French Colonial period in Wisconsin.  He has explored many of the sites that Marquette and Joliet mentioned in their Journal. He has lived along the Fox and Mississippi rivers most of his life and navigated those waters by canoe\, powerboat\, and steamboat. Bob has been President and a member of the Board of the La Crosse County Historical Society. He has presented history talks at national sites and state and local historical societies to history lovers of all ages.  His program is a colorful PowerPoint presentation with photos\, paintings\, maps\, and journal entries from 350 years ago. He makes history come alive! Held at the Chamber of Commerce Community Room\, 211 S Main Street\, Prairie du Chien\, WI. Call 608-326-6960 for more information or to make reservations.
